Sin changes the relationship between God and man • God and mankind before the fall • Man and woman were created in God’s image • Read Genesis 1:27 and 2:7 – What is the implication of the nature of man at the time of creation? What makes this creation different from the rest of creation? • Man was commanded to rule over creation and be fruitful and multiply • The Creation Mandate • Read 3:8 – What is the implication here about the relationship between man/woman and God?

Sin changes the relationship between man and woman • Curses • Serpent – Cursed above all livestock – “he will crush your head” – God has a redemptive plan in the works! • Woman – painful childbirth • Man – The ground is cursed and you’ll have to labor • What do these curses imply about the conditions prior to the Fall?

God responds to sin • Grace covers my sin - GOSPEL • God sought Adam and Eve even when they were hiding – do we hide from God today? • God could have started over – Why didn’t He? • God provides a means for salvation – Read Genesis 6:6-14a, Isaiah 9:6, 43:1,4 • Jesus summed up the Law in one word. What was it? Why are we to do so?
Implications and Application • Sin changes everything! • God desires relationship with us • Worthy of dignity • God’s fingerprints are clear in creation • Creation is both dependent on and accountable to the Creator • As stewards of the world, we should care for it too • God gave us a model for family and it should be honored • God does something about evil within his creation
Implications and Application • God wants us to have healthy relationships with each other • We are not “naturally good” • Extend grace to others • ALL evil can be traced back to the Fall • God makes our work worth doing • Our future is hopeful • We can walk faithfully, not perfectly, but faithfully
