  3. Objectives • Student will recall and demonstrate their ability to generate ideas and plans for writing by using prewriting strategies such as brainstorming and graphic organizers • Students will be able to define and explain informative writing and the different styles

  4. Review Identify each proofreading mark and recall the proper use

  5. Informative Writing What?

  6. Informative Writing • Analyzes the similarities and differences between two or more things • Huh? Sounds like Compare & Contrast. IT IS!! • This type of writing can be very helpful • Do I buy this car or that car?

  7. Informative Writing • A comparison and contrast essay includes • A topic that has two or more things that are similar but not perfectly matched or extremely different • Details similarities and differences • Organized clearly to highlight the comparison

  8. Informative Writing • There are three types of Informative essays • Regular compare and contrast • Product comparisons • Compares products with current information where the pros and cons of purchasing each • Plan evaluations • Compare two or more alternative plans or decisions where the pros and cons are listed

  9. Brainstorming If you have an idea, shout it out, or come up to the board and write it down

  10. Groups On the following slides are the group break downs for each class. Find your name and sit in your groups. Groups are NOT negotiable. Nice try, Slick!
