Preparing For Judgment A Presentation withLegal overtones.
Are you ready for the judgment day ? • We know it is coming (someday) • What if that day were today • Would you have your house in order • Do your family members have their houses in order • Is there anything you need to do for yourself or others to make sure
What is it that requires fixing? • My priorities are not right with God • Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God , to those who are the called according to His purpose • 1 John 4:20-21 If someone says, "I love God ," and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? 21 And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.
What is it that requires fixing? • My love for the world exceeds my love for God • 1 John 2:15-17 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.17 And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.
What is it that requires fixing? • My appetite for sin has to be less than a diet • Rom 6:5-6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves of sin • Rom 6:12-14 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13 And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin , but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.14 For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.
What is it that requires fixing? • My vocabulary must be reestablished with wholesome words instead of words that degrade myself and those that hear me speak • Matt 12:37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned." • Eph 4:28-31 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice. • 1 Tim 6:3 If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which accords with godliness
What is it that requires fixing? • My concern for the lost must become more important to me in my daily life and stop worrying only about working, eating and sleeping • Luke 9:26 "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it. 25 For what profit is it to a man if he gains the whole world, and is himself destroyed or lost? 26 For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words, of him the Son of Man will be ashamed when He comes in His own glory, and in His Father's, and of the holy angels.
What is it that requires fixing? • My dedication to the church should be easily seen in the way I serve God as a Christian • 2 Tim 1:3-5 I thank God, whom I serve with a pure conscience, as my forefathers did, as without ceasing I remember you in my prayers night and day, 4 greatly desiring to see you, being mindful of your tears, that I may be filled with joy, 5 when I call to remembrance the genuine faith that is in you, • Heb 12:28-29 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.
What cannot be fixed? • I cannot change God’s requirements for me as his child and that of being a Christian • Mark 4:20 But these are the ones sown on good ground, those who hear the word, accept it, and bear fruit: some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred." • 1 Cor 6:7 Now therefore, it is already an utter failure for you that you go to law against one another. Why do you not rather accept wrong?
What cannot be fixed? • I cannot change God’s standard for judgment • Rom 2:6 But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things. 3 And do you think this, O man, you who judge those practicing such things, and doing the same, that you will escape the judgment of God? 4 Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance? 5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, 6 who "will render to each one according to his deeds":
What can be fixed? • I can change my eternal destiny with the help of God and understanding his word • John 14:23-24 Jesus answered and said to him, "If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. • Luke 18:29-30 "Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or parents or brothers or wife or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, 30 who shall not receive many times more in this present time, and in the age to come eternal life."
