  1. Kingdom of GodLesson 2 2016 Sunday 9:30am Adults’ Bible Class Series: ABOUT THE

  2. I. Overall Kingdom of GodTimeline The Beginning Rebellion in Heaven The Kingdom of Israel The Church The kingdom of heaven II. Rebellion of Lucifer

  3. Lesson 2 Rebellion of Lucifer • A lot of speculation on this subject • Will stick to the Bible record and point out the factual information • Many important lessons to learn here

  4. 1. Who Lucifer Was Ezekiel 28:11-14 Moreover the word of Jehovah came unto me, saying, Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Thou sealest up the sum, full of wisdom, and perfect in beauty. Thou wast in Eden, the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, the topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was in thee; in the day that thou wast created they were prepared. Thou wast the anointed cherub that covereth: and I set thee, so that thou wast upon the holy mountain of God; thou hast walked up and down in the midst of the stones of fire.

  5. The King of Tyre The king was a created being - Ezekiel 28:12,15 He was “full of wisdom,”“perfect in beauty,” and having “the seal of perfection,” - verse 12 He was in a different realm - the holy mount of God - verses 13,14 He is portrayed as a cherub - verse 14 He was blameless and sinless - verse 15 He remained perfect in his ways until iniquity was found in him - verse 15b

  6. 2. What caused Him to Sin Ezekiel 28:17 - “Your heart became proud on account of your beauty, and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor.” Lucifer became obsessed with his own beauty, intelligence, power, and position He began to desire for himself the honor and glory that belonged to God alone. The sin that corrupted Lucifer was self-generated pride. 1. Who Lucifer was

  7. 3. What Lucifer did Lucifer before his rebellion, was a high and exalted angel. He and his sympathizers were striving against the government of God. He flattered himself that he should yet have all the angels on his side, and that he would be equal with God Himself. In this battle every angel would choose a side. This was the beginning of sin. • Who Lucifer was • The Tempations

  8. 4. War in Heaven It is the highest crime to rebel against the government of God. Lucifier was warring because he was ambitious. There was war in heaven- conflict with the archrebel. Lucifer and his sympathizers were expelled from heaven. Angels are no longer inclined to sin. 2 Peter 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment. 1. Who Lucifer was 2. The Tempations 3. What Lucifer did

  9. 5. Sin has its consequences The beginning of sin in the universe - preceding the fall of the human Adam. Sin originated from the free will of Lucifer when he chose to rebel against the Creator. This mighty angelic being was rightfully judged by God: “I threw you to the earth” Ezekiel 28:18 Ezekiel 28:18 indicates that Satan was absolutely and completely cast out of God’s heavenly government and his place of authority Luke 10:18 1. Who Lucifer was 2. The Tempations 3. What Lucifer did 4. War in Heaven

  10. Discussion Questions The Rebellion of Lucifer What do you think caused Lucifer to fall? Compare these with the ways/reasons Christians fall. End at 10:30am with a prayer. 1. Who Lucifer was 2. The King of Tyre 3. What Lucifer did 4. War in Heaven 5. Sin has its consequences
