Low Power Latency Reduction

This presentation discusses the changes made to support reduced latency in low power modes for 10GBASE-T. It includes revisions to sections 44.3 and 55.6.3, as well as the addition of a new section 55.11. The maximum bit time delay is reduced to 15,000 BT for 10GBASE-T low power UTP or 10GBASE-T low power STP modes. The operating modes for 10GBASE-T are defined, including support for Class EA/Augmented Category 6 and Class F cabling up to 30 meters. Additionally, the sum of the transmit and receive data delay shall not exceed 15,000 BT for 10GBASE-T low power UTP or 10GBASE-T low power STP mode implementations.

  1. Low Power Latency Reduction Presentation #3

  2. Changes to support reduced latency in low power modes • Section 44.3 • Page 40, line 6 add comment to Table 44-2 column Maximum (bit time) as follows: • Comment footnote #1) 1 Maximum bit time delay is reduced to 15,000 BT for 10GBASE-T low power UTP or 10GBASE-T low power STP.

  3. Revise section 55.6.3 • Insert new section 55.6.3 page 138 line 44 • 55.6.3 Operating modes for 10GBASE-T 10GBASE-T includes provision for multiple modes of operation. 10GBASE-T mode will support all link segments shown in Table 55-12 and defined in 55.7.2. 10GBASE-T low power UTP mode will support up to 30 meters of Class EA /Augmented Category 6 or up to 30 meters of Class F cabling. 10GBASE-T low power STP will support up to 30 meters of Class F cabling. In addition to reduced reach on specified channels, 10GBASE-T low power UTP and 10GBASE-T low power STP both have reduced delay requirements as stated in 44.3 and 55.11.

  4. Revise section 55.11 • Section 55.11 • Insert text immediately following the first sentence of the paragraph page 160 line 7 (section 55.11): For an implementation of a 10GBASE-T PHY operating in 10GBASE-T low power UTP or 10GBASE-T low power STP mode the sum of the transmit and receive data delay shall not exceed 15,000 BT.
