Abstract • We propose a spectrum measurement technique • Allow the existing TGad network to detect another TGad network or other 60GHz network. • Our scenario covers the case when both TGad network and another TGad network or other 60GHz network are in operations and the other TGad/60GHz network move into the vicinity of the existing TGad network under consideration. • The spectrum measurement will be carried out in every N beacon interval based on demand • Low complexity

Main Additions (1/3) Quasi-omni Quiet Period Quasi-omni Reporting Period • The main additions to the MAC structures are the quasi-omni quiet period and the quasi-omni reporting period. • There are multiple sub-quiet periods under the Quiet Period. Each sub-quiet period is used by the AP or STA to sense for the other network in their particular direction out of the n possible directions. Example of collaborative multi-direction sensing in the quiet period
Main Additions (2/3) • Note that the initial direction of sensing by each STA should be in such a way that all stations in that sector cover different directions. • This can be assigned to the STA by the AP when it associates with the AP. • Another way is to use the STA’s MAC address and compute it. • Thus, the AP and the STAs are sensing collaboratively in multiple directions as whole during the quiet period. • There are also multiple mini-slots in the different directions for the STAs to report their sensing outcomes.
Main Additions (3/3) • The mini-slots in different direction can be dynamically assigned to STAs by the AP when the STAs associate with the AP and indicated in a new field in the beacon period in that direction. • The particular mini-slot for a STA will be removed when the STA disassociates from the AP. • The AP can decide if the other TGad network is present or not, based on the data fusion rules.
Summary • We propose a spectrum measurement technique to detect other TGad/60GHz network(s). • The TGad network could then move to another band. • The options for spectrum measurement cater for the case when the TGad network and another TGad/60GHz network, both in operations, come into contact. • These options can be used in every beacon interval, or once in a number of beacon intervals.
