  2. The Model • Von Thunen observed some patterns in where agriculture is grown and where people live. • This model explains the development of agricultural towns and cities.

  3. City/Town/Village: At the heart of the model is the city, where the people live and work.

  4. Horticulture and Dairying: Dairy farming is done close enough to transport milk to market without spoiling.

  5. Forestry: Why would forests be needed here when Von Thunen came up with his model in 1826?

  6. Crop Rotation/Pastures Grain production
