Gesturalism(姿勢主義) • Gesturalism denotes facial expressions and bodily postures which convey meanings that make an art work more intelligible. • There is narrative gesture, which encompasses a wide range of different gestures in one painting to convey the full complexity of the event depicted. • Facial expression; sensibilities; postures; complex narrative
Emotionalism(感情主義) • It uses various techniques which minimize the literal and psychological distance between the art work and the viewer. • Transformation; submission; exclusion;elevation; ecstasy; piety; devotion
Caravaggism(卡拉瓦喬主義) • In the first decade of the 17th century many Italian artists were influenced by the work of Caravaggio. • He rejected the dominant Mannerist style, and Renaissance Idealism, in favor of greater Realism and dramatic painterly techniques. • Dramatic; chiaroscuro; close-up; erotic; physicality; reality; revelation
Absolutism(絕對主義) • Absolutism depicts the pursuit, consolidation and expression of this power. • It is most succinctly exemplified by Louis XlV’s famous statement ‘I am the State’. • Political power; virtue; propaganda; refinement; victory; royal patronage
