India has prized knowledge (gyan) for thousands of years as a way for growth. The future destiny of India lies in her classrooms.
In these vastly changed present circumstances we are working to find solutions, to the evolution of that (educational) triangle, keeping the three sides of quality, equality and equity intact?
How do we cross various borders, which normally we do not like to cross? Or move towards makinghappen what is presently considered impossible or most improbable?
How do we raise the bar to provide high quality education in our schools? Or how do we make a conscious shift of a strategy from competitive to cooperative approach to enhance learning effectiveness?
Education is undergoing large scale reforms to meet the challenges of 21st Century through a process of transformation and not evolution. While current adoption levels are low (< 1%), the tipping point has been reached and there is a massive demand build-up.
Major reforms are required for: • Curriculum and content redesigning to include 21st Century Skills • Increasing the scope of Vocational Courses • The process of Teacher Training • Technology for Assessments and Evaluation • ICT Integration in classrooms
Key facts about India • A young country with a population of 1.1bn with over 400 million students • 1.5 million education establishments • 88.89% offering School education (includes pre primary, primary, middle & secondary) & 2.9% offering Higher education (universities & colleges) • 8.21% imparting Teacher training
Moving ahead • The government through legislation of “Right to Education” bill has identified education as a focus area to maintain sustainable economic growth. • Adequate funds are allocated to ensure that India’s education sector would see long-term secular growth with rewards for early movers.
A gigantic opportunity We welcome collaborations and sharing of best practices and resources from across the world for implementation in our schools and classrooms. Contact: udailauria@crisp.edu.in
