Background Information Location: Carrollton Elementary School after school program. Description: I observed Carrollton Elementary afterschool program from February 28th to March 14th. The Up and Growing After School Program is for students at Carrollton Elementary Pre-K- 3rd. After the school day ends, students are able to go to the ASP. They are provided homework help, tutoring, snacks, arts and craft lessons and free play. There is a charge for this service. Parents must complete an enrollment form/tuition agreement and receive the Parent Handbook before a student may begin. Guest or Emergency Enrollment: Students not enrolled may participate in the program only if phone contact is made by a parent. Emergency contact information must be provided including the name of the person who will pick the child up. Tuition must be paid at the time child/ren are signed out of the program. Description of Students: Students are very diverse. Some are African-American, Caucasian, Lebanese, Hawaiian, and Hispanic-American. Their age ranges from 4 to 8 years old. They vary in height, personality, learning level, social skills, etc. Everyday there’s about 30-50 students who participate in the ASP.
