  10. Why use technology to research and locate information? • Various sources • Issues are summarized • Very visual • Ease of research – all have same access • Holds attention as it is colorful and interactive

  11. Importance of Text • Class text – see pg. 180 “Despite the attention paid to other components of hypermedia, text remains one of the most powerful ways to communicate ideas. Text can be generated as a multimedia project develops or can be imported from word processing files.”

According to the textbook, what is the name for this kind of problem-based learning? • Social action projects – see page 240 • Constructivism Approach • Hands on Learning • Pages of interest for further follow up – see pages 41 (Social Activism Theory), 342 (Adapting for Special Needs Suggestions/sites), 334 (The National Council for Social Studies defined and themes 1-10 described “study of humanities to promote civic competencies”)

  13. Why email only to teacher? • Safety so emails come into teacher • Teacher can monitor what is being shared • Practice back and forth

  14. Assessment • Discuss this with students prior • Give them 3 minutes to write down as many single words they can use to describe their own thoughts on Emily Carr and her contributions

  16. Finished Product • Educators often work from finished product back so sample could be shown. Sample is for model and also for the educator who needs to practice!
