Vine comments “The worship of God is nowhere defined in Scripture. A consideration of the above verbs shows that it is not confined to praise; broadly it may be regarded as the direct acknowledgement to God of His nature, attributes, ways and claims, whether by the outgoing of the heart in praise and thanksgiving or by deed done in such acknowledgement.”
Consider Some Questions - Does one start and stop worship like one “punches in” and “punches out”? Is the concept of a “worship service” found in the New Testament? I Cor 12-14; 16. Is worship tied to a physical locality? Not necessarily, but there was a “place”. Acts 9; Heb. 11, “caves and holes.”
Must we make a distinction between religious and secular activity? Lord’s Supper is “distinct”. Any “service” may have religious overtones – Matt. 25. Can I worship by myself or must others be present? Who decided that there are 5 acts of worship?
Is my worship dependant at all on whether those around me are Christians? Can I eat and worship at the same time? Is there a clear distinction between social things and spiritual things? Are there only two kinds of worship (vain and true), or are there more.
