I am going to donate the money I won on the lottery to the council so that they will build a community centre and the people in the area will benefit. I will show respect to others if they show respect to me.

Religious Leaders Religious leaders give guidance and advice on moral issues which are not covered in holy books.
Look at the following slides and write down what you think the name of the religious leader is, and what religion they belong to. If you don’t know have a guess!!!

The religions we are going to be concentrating on are: -Christianity -Judaism -Islam
Christianity • Christians believe that both scripture and the viewpoint of religious leaders should be taken into consideration when making moral decisions. • Some Christians believe that the Bible is the word of God. • The religious leader for Roman Catholics is Pope Benedict XVI. • The Protestant church has many different denominations with different leaders, e.g., archbishops.
Judaism • The religious book for the Jewish people is the Torah. • Judaism was founded by Moses. • Jewish people follow God’s laws in making moral decisions and these include the 10 commandments. • Jewish religious leaders are called Rabbis.
Islam • God sent a number of prophets to mankind to teach them how to live according to His law. • The last prophet was Muhammad (peace be upon him) and their holy book was revealed to him by Allah. • Muslims base their laws on their holy book the Qur’an, and the Hadith, which is sayings of the prophet.
