Why is it important to be professional? • Most executive managers agree: professional behavior and attitudes often play an important role in who gets hired and promoted, as well as in who gets fired or demoted. (Seidametova, 2009) • Keep yourself marketable for the future. (Monster Career Coach, 2011) • Chances to work on more assignments. The respect of peers and senior management. (Monster Career Coach, 2011) • With unemployment at record highs, the importance of professionalism in the workplace cannot be overlooked as a key to success and advancement.  (Udegraff, 2010)

  4. back-up plans • Instead of waiting for pink slips that sometimes seem inevitable, workers are creating "Plan B’s" before they have to, developing independent streams of revenue that can replace, at least partially, full-time jobs. (Palmer, 2011) • The importance of getting started, even in a small way, before that pink slip arrives. (Palmer, 2011) • http://www.mscareergirl.com/ • http://liveboldandbloom.com/12/productivity/how-to-create-your-back-up-plan
