What is Chiropractic Care? • Chiropractors focus their expertise on healing parts of the body through a natural approach • Tries to heal patients without the use of drugs or surgery. • Treat patients with health problems related to the muscular, nervous, and skeletal system.
Why Chiropractors? • I chose this profession because most people never heard of it or might only have a slight idea of this job. • I like that chiropractors don’t turn to medicine, drugs, or surgery as their first way to treat their patients. • Chiropractors have a hands-on method of treatment usually associated with the spine, which is unique compared to most physicians.
Education Requirements • Minimum of 8 years of study • Required to complete a four year undergraduate degree • Must apply for licensure/registration with the New York State Education Department, Office of the Professions to practice as a chiropractor in NY.
Job Outlook? • The job outlook of a chiropractor is EXCELLENT! • In fact, Chiropractic employment is expected to grow 28% from 2010 to 2020.
What is the Salary? • The average salary of a Chiropractor is $90,000.
Working Conditions • A typical day in the life of a chiropractor means working in your own comfortable office. Chiropractors are usually on their feet and perfecting hands-on techniques to treat patients with skeletal problems. • Chiropractors usually work 40 hours a week, and may work on weekends for patients.
