  1. SCOPE PHASE II Symptom Communication and Organization for Patient Empowerment By: Shaneena McGloster Mentor: Amy Chused M.D Columbia University Department of Biomedical Informatics

PHASES I-II-III • Phase I- The first step of this project is to create a variety of menus that the patients can choose from. • Phase II- The second step of this project is to compare the menus and see which one was easiest and most effective to use. • Phase III- The last step will be to personalize the website and set it up so we can keep track of our users and the time they log their symptoms.

  3. LONG-TERM GOALS To create a system where cancer patients can log-in their symptoms, track them, and have a print out to take to the doctor.

  4. DESIGNING A WEB PAGE PHP -PHP is “an HTML embedded scripting language.” -PHP runs on the server allowing accurate logging of user behavior. MySQL -MySQL is a open source data base.

  5. HIERARCHICAL MENU • A structure made up of different levels where the higher levels have control or precedence over the lower levels. Hierarchical structures are a one-to-many relationship; each item having one or more items below it.
