Be a Man • Strong – Show anger, swear, chisel their bodies. • Academic – No emotion, intellectual, • Perfectionist – Mr. Nice Guy, want to be admired. • God is looking for vulnerable, transparent, true men.
Men Stray from the Blueprint • Men tend to move away from the plans of God. • God often has to rename us (new identity) and place uson a new path. • Albert goes frombeing widow to anabuser, cheater, drunk.
Real Men Learn to Face the Wound • Psalm 109:22 For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me. • Wound = No validation from Father (figure) • Only a man can validate the masculinity of a boy who is becoming a man. • Albert’s father killed the manAlbert was to become and madehim into a monster.
Real Men Learn to Remove False Identities • Job 5:17-18 17 "Blessed is the man whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty. 18 For he wounds, but he also binds up; he injures, but his hands also heal. • God wounds us in the place of our deepest wound. Because He wants to deal with the real you. • If we are willing to come out of hiding, then we can move on to find the healing we so desperately need.
Real Men Find Healing for their Wound • Psalm 147:3 He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. • There is a process of healing: • Surrender • Grief your wound • Let God’s love heal us • Forgive our Fathers (figure)
