  2. Overview of presentation • Mandatory building energy performance standards is a powerful tool to promote energy efficiency (EE) in the buildings sector . A participatory multi-stakeholder approach, based on prescribing cost effective and realistic new building energy performance targets for different types of buildings (residential, commercial, institutional, etc.), is the most effective way of insuring the success of such programs. • The presentation will highlight the development process of the Tunisian building codes, the stakeholders and mechanisms involved, and how the implementation of these mechanisms was fully integrated into the existing building construction process, in order to achieve the desired results.
