Rapidan Chapter’s Vision and Strategy • Vision - In accord with TU National’s vision, by the next generation, Rapidan Chapter will do it’s part in ensuring that robust populations of native and wild coldwater fish once again thrive within their North American range, so that our children can enjoy healthy fisheries in their home waters. • Strategies – • Grassroots engagement – Invest in our youth & build/improve our communications systems • Education and outreach – Improve public awareness and support, provide hands-on field based opportunities, and foster awareness for a connection between trout, water resources, the environment, and people • Leverage resources – articulate compelling needs and goals for funding , donations and volunteer efforts • Advocacy at the national, state, and local levels

  4. National Trout Unlimited • Since 1959, TU has worked to conserve, protect, and restore North America’s coldwater fisheries and their watersheds. During this time, TU’s efforts has resulted in protecting more than 10,000 river miles, as well as pioneering new scientific, legal, and legislative tools to make America’s rivers cleaner and healthier. • Nationally, we have more than 147,000 members, 377 chapters and 36 councils • In fiscal year 2011, TU's members contributed more than 650,000 volunteer hours, converting to in-kind contribution of $13.9 million • Approximately $8.9 million in revenue • More than $1.5 million in leveraged or matched funds

Rapidan Chapter is currently supporting or co-supporting 8 area schools : TIC release May ‘09

Tri – State Youth Camp Coordinator: Mike McCaffery 2012 dates: TBD Graves Mountain Lodge, Syria VA Campers spend most of six days outdoors experiencing mountain streams and their environments to learn about successful and responsible fishing, conservation, stream life and restoration, wildlife, outdoor skills, team challenges, leadership, and lots more.

  20. Fundraiser - Fishing Show Coordinators: Fred Kallmeyer & Larry Willoughby 2012 date: (Sat) February 25th The annual fishing show is our main fund raising event. It allows us to fund chapter activities and support TU initiatives.

Coordinator: Bill Hobson 2012 dates TBD Our Chapter’s volunteers, combined with that of the Northern Virginia Chapter volunteers to the Special Love Camp in Front Royal, gives children and young adults with cancer and their families a chance to enjoy normal childhood activities that healthy kids often take for granted.

  25. 2 Fly Tournament 2012 Date: May 7th Coordinator: Kevin Daniels Rapidan Chapter supports the efforts of Project Healing Waters, dedicated to helping the recovery of our wounded veterans. We routinely provide volunteers as stream monitors for the annual 2 Fly tournament on Rose River Farm & when we can fund it – donate funds for a Chapter Team to enter the competition.
