NO Use Type B YES Follow Good Practice NO YES Intentional? e.g. spraying Use Type A Use Type C Follow Good Practice Control types: A – Fume hood switched on B – Fume hood switched off (to contain) with FFP3 facemask C – Specially designed enclosure within fume hood (switched on) D – Glovebox (full enclosure) NB The general principle with dealing with dangerous liquids/vapours and powders is: Liquids/vapours i.e. wet material – fume hood Powder i.e. dry – glovebox (full enclosure) If deemed not dangerous materials can be handled on the lab bench
