Diligent Worship, a recommendation or a NECESSITY? A Presentation By: McKenna Avery, Brandon Vandyke, Ryan Pigeon, and Lisa Gonsiorek
What is purpose and how do we discover it? • Purpose is The reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists. • SO the Question is, What do you exist for? • * • Findng YOUR PURPOSE • What do you love to do? • Does it Glorify God? • Can you make it glorify god? d
Enacting your purpose and WHY Once you have determined what you like to do That DOES GLORIFY GOD, get on it!!! God has given you passions and talents for a singular reason, to use them to bring glory to his name, THAT’s Why! d
Perseverance in Worship Overall James 1:2-4 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. AT some point in everyone’s life, one will face challenges that seem almost insurmountable. All one has to do is remember that God has provided for you all the tools you need to meet those challenges and persevere through those challenges knowing that god is on your side. d
What is Worship? 1 Peter 2:9 “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” Worship is usually thought of as the singing done in a church or chapel service, but it can be so much more. We can worship god through everything we do, regardless of whether we are at church or not. We are called to worship at all times and do everything in a way that would bring glory to god.
Why Worship? Psalm 91: 14-16 “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.” Psalm 91 makes it clear through the powerful imagery in the text that worshiping God is necessary and beneficial. We are a people that is desperately in need of someone to always look out for us. God offers us an eternal union full of love and protection, and the only thing He requires in return is our loyalty and praise. What a small price to pay for such an outstanding offer that we don’t even deserve!
How To Worship? Psalm 100: 1-3 “Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth. Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs. Know that the Lord is God. It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture.” 1 Thessalonians 5: 16 “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. It is evident that God doesn’t typically have a specific ritual in mind for how we worship; however, there are key concepts that appear to show up time and time again in the text. These concepts consist of us going to God continually In prayer and in praise. We must acknowledge and praise Him for who He is. d
Where to Worship? (This is KEY!!!) Matthew 27:50-52 “And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open. The bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. After the death of Jesus Christ, his followers not only were saved through Christ’s sacrifice, but they were also freed from the burden of having to pray in a certain place or way. Although a church home or alongside Christians are the most common places for worship, we really can worship anywhere due to Christ’s sacrifice! d
