  4. Altensteig castle Built in the 12th century The only preserved medieval castle in the black forest Had many landlords till it came into the possession of The Duke of Wurttemberg in 1603 1610 a new castle was attached to the old one.

  5. Animals Red Squirrels Ants help the forest Brown bears and wolves

  6. Black forest cattle Can climb up steep Mountains. Slightly smaller then normal cows Produce less milk then the regular big cows.

  7. The Eurasian lynx Exterminated in 1850 2002 first birth of wild lynx They have been spotted again over the past couple of years.

  8. Cuckoo clock Started in the 17th century First world’s biggest Cuckoo Clock World's largest Cuckoo Clock in Germany

  9. Black forest farm buildings Everything is under one roof. Steep roof enable ample of storage space. 30yrs ago the very last farm was introduce to electricity.
