  1. Living in Tornado Alley The people who live in Tornado Alley in America face many challenges. They live in the part of the USA that faces the most tornadoes every year. Part One: Make a real tornado. Supplies: Water 2x 2L bottles Cardboard Scissors Tape Fill the bottle ¾ full with water. Cut a circle of cardboard as big around as the bottle’s opening. Cut a ¼ inch hole in the centre. Place the cardboard circle on the top of your water bottle’s opening. Turn the other empty bottle onto the bottle. Make sure both openings are together. Wrap tape around the bottle necks to make sure they stay together and do not leak. Hold the bottles so that the bottle with water is upside down on top. Hold the bottom bottle to steady it. With other hand, begin moving the top bottle in a circle. Watch what happens!

  2. Part Two: Understanding Tornadoes. • Once you have made your model, you need to make a poster to display in Tornado Alley to educate the local people of the risks of where they live. It must include: • What a tornado is, including a labelled diagram. • An explanation the of causes of tornadoes including why they are so destructive. • A diagram of a tornado shelter that the people could built near or under their houses. • Advice on how people can people can their home tornado proof. • Part Three: Make a Movie • You are a tornado hunter in the USA, watch several YouTube tornado hunter films and then make you own! Bring the film into school on your phone to show the class
