  1. Water Information Strategies NWQMC Report 2/3/11

  2. Logistics • Monthly Calls will now start at 11:00 EST rather than 11:30 (Need to update NWQMC Web Calendar).

  3. Use of Volunteer Monitoring Data • South Carolina Survey on 3rd Party Data • Discussion: • Action Steps: • Revise the SC survey based on WIS input (Dave will bring back comments to Chris Case) and finish survey by end of February. • Convene a smaller subcommittee • Review the SC survey results and collate common themes. • Investigate the need for a volunteer survey • Opportunities to address topic at River Rally Overlap Day • Begin a dialogue of uses of data on the website

  4. Resolution to ACWI • Discussion on Draft Council Resolution to ACWI regarding the development of a long-term national network of reference watersheds • Action Steps: • WIS approved the Resolution subject to final edits • Edits due back to Bill Wilber and Jeff Deacon by Feb 17th. • Bill/Jeff will work with Wendy to get the final draft on the ACWI agenda. • Subcommittee will meet with Bill/Jeff to work on the inventory piece and to help scope out the details on the reference site criteria

  5. Water Quality Statistics and Assessments • Postponed Discussion • Action Steps: • Leslie will forward framework and form for review. • Doug will set up a WQSA conference call - likely to occur within the next two weeks.

  6. Program and Monitoring Integration • Review of the draft document including key concepts and critical next steps. • Action Steps: • Add the role of the Council to the document • Articulate how scale is important. • Begin working on the critical next steps. Perhaps starting with Success Stories. • The subcommittee will reconvene and prioritize critical next steps for the next WIS call. • Add State Partners to the subcommittee – Leslie, Jason, Gary, Jeff, Mary, Dave

  7. NAWQA Cycle 3 • Presentation of NAWQA Cycle 3 Plan • Action Items: • Review Plan and provide comments back to Gary Rowe by Feb 28th.

  8. Monitoring and Assessment Partnership • Susan provided an overview of the MAP progress • Action Items: • MAP will reconvene Friday at the Gulf Breeze Lab • Review Concept Paper on Proposed Topics for Inclusion in Clean Water Act Sections 303d/305b

  9. Monitoring for Spills • Postpone until future WIS call

  10. National Monitoring Network • Progress Report • Action Items: • USGS Webinar April 7, 2011 at 1:00 pm EST • Pixie will be sending out more information on the webinar.
