It’s flat! 5.2 million Danes own 4.4 million bicycles. 45% of Danish children bike to school. 17% of men and 36% of women commute by bike. Danes even invent new types of bicycles. For example, the Christiania bike transports one parent and up to three children. 3

Hundreds of wind turbines around the country deliver 20% of the nation’s energy consumption. Denmark has become a world leader in wind energy: half of the world’s wind turbines are manufactured in Denmark. 9
