  2. Current Efforts Nationwide • Ohio Perinatal Quality Consortium • In 18 months, shifted 8000 deliveries from preterm to term • Avoided 250 NICU admissions & saved $50,000 per admission

  3. Current Efforts Nationwide • Washington State Perinatal Collaborative • Goal is to reduce elective deliveries before 39 weeks gestational age to 7% or less

  4. Current Efforts Nationwide • Louisiana Perinatal Care Improvement Summit • Brought together Perinatal Quality experts from across the United States for the first summit that was held in October 2011

  5. Current Efforts Nationwide • ASTHO (Association of State & Territorial Health Officials) • Support state health officials & their staffs with improving health outcomes for infants by reducing infant mortality & prematurity in the United States

  6. Current Efforts Nationwide • AETNA Insurance • Publicly recognize facilities that have demonstrated their commitment to infant safety in their online provider directory with the phrase “Elective Delivery Infant Safety Program”
