  1. Get Ready for Fisher!! Information on Fisher Athletics

Fall Athletics • Cross-Country: Boys and Girls • Cross country running is a sport in which teams and individuals run a race on an open-air course over natural terrain such as dirt or grass! While girls and boys run altogether, they are scored and placed separately. Each course is about 1.5 to 2 miles long, and include uniquely fun trails at each of the different middle schools we travel to.  • All students are welcome to join! No tryouts necessary. First Practice Monday September 9th 3:15-5:00. • Boys Soccer: Varsity and JV. • Players need the proper cleats and shin guards to take part in all tryouts and practices. • All athletes interested in playing are encouraged to try out as there are two teams. All players will gain experience and learn skills which allow them to improve throughout the season. • Tentative Tryouts September 5th, 6th, and 9th . • Girls Soccer: Varsity and JV • All athletes interested in playing are encouraged to try out as there are two teams. All players will gain experience and learn skills which allow them to improve throughout the season. • Players need the proper cleats and shin guards to take part in all tryouts and practices. • Tentative Tryouts September 5th, 6th, and 9th . • Girls Field Hockey • All those interested are encourage to try out. Players who are new to the sport will be taught the different rules and skills. Those interested will also be provided with equipment such as the field hockey stick and goggles if needed. • Tentative Tryouts September 5th, 6th, and 9th

Winter Athletics • Wrestling: Varsity and JV. • The Fisher middle school wrestling team is comprised of 19 weight classes from 70 pounds to 250 pounds.  You will be matched up with people who are similar size and weight within 5 to 10 pounds of you.  Wrestling is a no cut sport and as long as you maintain good grades and school behavior you are allowed to participate.  • Boys Basketball: • Players take part in a competitive level games against other middle school teams in the area. The program is designed to help players improve/strengthen skills and learn to play on a competitive team • Girls Basketball: • All athletes interested in playing are encouraged to try out. This is a great opportunity to introduce yourself to the coaches and learn valuable skills that will help you to improve your basketball skills. • Players take part in a competitive level games against other middle school teams in the area. The program is designed to help players improve/strengthen skills and learn to play on a competitive team. • Cheerleading: • Athletes participate in daily practices and cheer at all home games for basketball. Athletes will learn different cheers and routines that are used throughout the season. • All winter sports have tentative start dates in November. More information will be provided at the start of school.

  4. Spring Athletics • Baseball: Varsity • All serious players are encouraged to try out in 6th grade (and/or 7th and 8th). The allows you to introduce yourself to the coaches and gained valuable experience. You will also have learned what you need to work on in the future​ in order to improve your skills. • Softball: Varsity • All serious players are encouraged to try out in 6th grade (and/or 7th and 8th). The allows you to introduce yourself to the coaches and gained valuable experience. You will also have learned what you need to work on in the future​ in order to improve your skills. • Boys and Girls Track and Field: • With 11 different events there is a place for everyone to excel.  Events range from short sprints to long distance and even hurdles.  There is long and high jump.  You will even learn the throwing events shot put and discus. 

  5. How can you get Involved? • Athletic packets for fall sports can now begin to be turned in to the nurse at Fisher Middle School. • Athletic Physical forms are different from the forms necessary for enrollment at Fisher Middle School. • Athletic permission forms can now be completed online as part of the Genesis Parent Portal. • If a student wished to participate in a sport, the parent/guardian and athlete can now complete mandated paperwork and documentation online. Parent/Athletes should simply go to the Genesis Parent Portal and click on the “Forms” link-Scroll to the Athletic Forms and fill out all of the required forms.
