Choosing What Matters • It’s a decision-making tool • A working, living document • A stakeholder analysis tool to include all perspectives • Process map to make data-driven decisions • Unbiased – streamlined process • Money (RFAs) should not drive the process
Community Section • Residents, Businesses (employers), Govt. agencies, etc. • Demography • Economic development needs • Collaboration opportunities • To what degree is this proposal aligned with community needs & demography? • Does it foster collaboration with community partners and promote economic development? (e.g. Is it aligned with regional/municipal Economic Development plan?)
College Section • College/Divisional goals (Educational Master Plan) • Strength/Capacity building • Competition • Is it aligned with Institutional & Program Learning Outcomes? • Does it allow us to build on current strength(s)? • Does it help with capacity building? • What is the regional public and private competition?
Jobs section • LMS/EMSI/Environmental Scans • Industry trends • Local partners • What are the short & long term job prospects? • Are skills and knowledge portable and stackable to other certificates or degrees? • Is it aligned with regional job market trends and current demand and supply ratio? • Does it require employer partnership(s)?
Money section • Federal/State • WIB/Local/other • Amount/Duration • Is the award amount sufficient to implement and sustain high quality program(s)? • What is the length of the award? • Is the award recurring or one-time funding? • Are matching funds required? In-kind or cash? How much?

Goal: Generate Key Elements & Best Questions to customize this tool for WIB/WIOA stakeholders Instructions: We have 20 minutes to: • Form a group of 4-6 with diverse backgrounds(LMI, Training/Education, WIB operations, employer engagement, etc.) • Discuss and record key elements and questions essential to decision making • Post your key elements and questions on the Purple Wall
