  3. Alcohol Symptoms What is Alcohol? Alcohol is a psychoactive substance, which means that it has the ability to change consciousness and to alter perceptions and behavior. • Clumsiness • difficulty walking • slurred speech • sleepiness • poor judgment • dilated pupils • possession of a false ID card

  4. Tobacco Symptoms What is Tobacco? Tobacco is a green, leafy plant that is grown in warm climates. After it is picked, it is dried, ground up, and used in different ways. It can be smoked in a cigarette, pipe, or cigar. It can be chewed (called smokeless tobacco or chewing tobacco) or sniffed through the nose (called snuff). • Usually without the nicotine in the cigarette, a person starts to go through withdrawals such as: • Headache • Nausea • Constipation or diarrhea • Falling heart rate and blood pressure • Fatigue, drowsiness, and insomnia • Irritability • Difficulty concentrating • Anxiety • Depression • Increased hunger and caloric intake • Increased pleasantness of the taste of sweets • Tobacco cravings

Marijuana is a green, brown, or gray mixture of dried, shredded leaves, stems, seeds, and flowers of the hemp plant. • Glossy; red eyes • loud talking and inappropriate laughter followed by sleepiness • a sweet burnt scent • loss of interest • motivation • weight gain or loss

  6. Meth Symptoms/Signs What Meth is Methamphetamines are synthetic stimulants that are produced and sold illegally in pill form, capsules, powder, and chunks. A white, odorless, bitter tasting crystalline powder that can be easily dissolved in water or alcohol.. • Excessively happy • Paranoia • Decreased appetite • Increased physical Activity • Anxiety • Shaking hands • Nervousness • Weight loss • Strong body odor • Very Moody • Incessant talking • Fast eye movement • Dilated pupils • Sweating

  7. Heroin Symptoms What is Heroin? It is white or brownish powder or as the black sticky substance known on the streets as "black tar heroin." Although purer heroin is becoming more common, most street heroin is "cut" with other drugs or with substances such as sugar, starch, powdered milk, or quinine. • Needle marks • sleeping at unusual times • sweating • vomiting • coughing and sniffling • twitching • loss of appetite • contracted pupils • no response of pupils to light

Why Are Drugs Bad? • Drugs eventually cause a person to become addicted. • They can change the way a person’s body works and looks. • They cost precious money. • Even the littlest use of drugs can end in death. • All the drugs in the world aren’t worth a normal life. Somebody on drugs is a major threat to themselves and others around them.
