What is Social Networking? • Social networking focuses on building online communities of people who share interests and/or activities, or who are interested in exploring the interests and activities of others. Most social networking is web based and it provides a variety of ways for users to interact, such as e-mail and instant messaging services.

  3. What is Facebook? • Founded in February 2004, Facebook is a social utility that helps people communicate more efficiently with their friends, family and coworkers. The company develops technologies that facilitate the sharing of information through the social graph, the digital mapping of people's real-world social connections. Anyone can sign up for Facebook and interact with the people they know in a trusted environment.

  5. Fan Pages • What are Fan Pages? • Pages are for real celebrities, bands and businesses to broadcast great information to fans in an official, public manner. Like profiles, they can be enhanced with applications that help the entity communicate with and engage their fans, and capture new audiences virally through their fans' recommendations to their friends. • You can use your personal profile to create and manage a Facebook Page for your organization.

  6. Groups • A group is like a Fan Page but you can make this as private as you want it to be. • With groups: • Set administrators • You choose who can be apart of your group • RAD Grads Group

  7. Applications • What are Applications? • You can search for an application. • Can be linked to your Fan pages or group pages • You can develop you own application. • It takes a bit of coding. • Add the developers Application from Facebook to get code templates to get started
