  4. Attendance • Gradebook • Each Unexcused Absence can result in the loss of up to 30% of grades for any work/ assessments from the date of the absence. • Repeated absences can result in loss of driver’s license

  5. Grades • Your semester grades are what determine your overall/cumulative GPA. Semester grades are calculated as follows: • 1st Nine Weeks 35% • 2nd Nine Weeks 35% • Semester Exam 30% • Semester Grade 100%

  6. What about G.P.A.’s? • Grade point averages are calculated on each report card for that term • GPA on the transcript is cumulative (including all grades earned so far) • GPA is weighted and unweighted • Weighted is for honors, A.P., AICE, and dual enrollment courses • A= 4.0 B=3.0 C= 2.0 D=1.0 (unweighted) • A= 4.5 B= 3.5 C= 2.5 D= 1.5 (Honors weighted) • A= 5.0 B= 4.0 C = 3.0 D = 2.0 (AP/AICE/Dual Enrollment weighted)

  10. High School Graduation Requirements • 2.0 GPA (unweighted “C” average) • 24 Credits • Passing 10th Grade FSA Reading score • Passing End of Course Exam- Algebra 1

Registration Process • February 27th- March 6th:Call Maria Diaz-Rawlins, between 6:45 AM to 3:00 PM, to schedule registration appointment- 474-7702 (ext. 3307) • March 1st - 8th Grade Field Trip to LBHS • March 6th : Registration Night from 4:00 to 7:00 PM in LBHS Cafeteria… Please bring the completed PINK registration form & materials to your scheduled appointment.

  12. Course Request Sheet • Students will register for 7 classes. • All students will register for English, Math, Science. • College & Career Elective and Hope (with some exceptions.) • Students may choose other electives at bottom of request form in the order of most desired.

  13. Elective- NJROTC • Students selecting NJROTC as an elective will: • Have ROTC for 2 periods during day. • Students will not be required to take PE/Health Credit (HOPE). • Students will not be required to take Fine Art credit.

  14. Florida Virtual School/Charlotte Virtual School • Website – www.flvs.net • Students can use FLVS/CVS for the .5/1.0 credit of an online course. • Students can also use FLVS/CVS to accelerate their high school career as well as challenge themselves with an online course. • Must have guidance and parent approval.

  15. Charlotte Technical College • Programs open to 9th graders: • Automotive, Building Construction, Business, Computer Tech, Criminal Justice, Culinary, Digital Design, Game Design/ Programming, Nurse Assistant (CNA) • Other programs available JR/SR: • Baking, Cosmetology, Early Childhood Ed, Practical Nursing, EMR, EMT, Hospitality & Tourism, HVAC, Principles of Teaching • http://charlottetechcollege.net/

Florida Bright Futures • Florida Medallion Scholars- 75% paid in state tuition • 3.0 weighted GPA • SAT score of 1170 or ACT score of 26 • 2 years of a foreign language • 75 community service hours • Florida Academic Scholars- 100% paid in state tuition + $350 book stipend per semester • 3.5 weighted GPA • SAT score of 1290 or ACT score of 29 • 2 years of a foreign language • 100 community service hours

  18. Course Graduation Requirements • 4 English • 4 Math to include Algebra 1* and Geometry* • 1 credit World History • 1 credit US History* • .5 credit US Gov’t/.5 credit in Economics • 3 Science to include Biology* • 1 Fine Arts or Practical Arts Elective • 1 HOPE (Health & Personal Fitness) • 8 Electives to include an online course (HOPE will satisfy this requirement) = 24 Credit * = course requires student to take an End of Course exam that is developed by state and will count as 30% of student’s second semester grade.
