Eight(8) months after international curatorial training programme (ICTP)
Progress of C N Kikonyogo Money Museum • Fully shifted to the new location -Ground floor area - basement for storage and processing -old room will be used for temporary exhibitions • Typeset 6 brochures/booklets • Bought a few more artifacts • Developing Acquisition Policy • Two visitors from British Museum OUR NEXT MOVES: • Modify layout following key messages • Document artifacts including taking photos • To regulate humidity and temperature • Start outreach programs depending on the budget
How ITP helped • Confidence in my work • Collaboration with British Museum met our specific needs • Met other people in my field
Future collaboration with other participants • Exchange visits to tour and learn • Sharing artifacts and other appropriate materials • Visits to help with the actual work and share experiences between different curators • Step up BM Facebook and BM Blog interactions
What BM could do to improve ITP • Involve more countries • Concentrate more on giving each participant training, experience and support in their individual field of work/speciality during the ITP not mainly general/overall museum work. • Give out laptops to all or most active participants • Encourage writing on a topic in one’s museum and a prize for the best.
