  2. Why movies? • Acts 17 (p.846) • Are we interacting in the public sphere? • Do our words have salt? • We are always doing theology.

  3. Given Choice • Backstories (Genesis 2:7ff) Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person. Then the Lord God planted a garden in Eden in the east … In the middle of the garden he placed the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. … The Lord God placed the man in the Garden of Eden to tend and watch over it. But the Lord God warned him, “You may freely eat the fruit of every tree in the garden— except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you eat its fruit, you are sure to die.”

  4. Given Choice • Why did God give us choice? • So we can LOVE. • Deuteronomy 30:19-20 (p.163)

  5. Given Choice • So we can GROW. • We need moral and spiritual growth – character – through choices. • Jesus constantly called people to make choices – in relationship with Him. • Mark 2:13-17 (p.762)

  6. Freed Will • Every day we have the choice to love God and grow closer to Him – or turn more selfish. • All choices can be done WITH God: • “I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5
