How Many Bags of Cheetos Do You Eat Per Week? By: Yaneth Carlos Jose Franquez
California Standards • 8.0 Students organize and describe distributions of data by using a number of different methods, including frequency tables, histograms, standard line and bar graphs, stem-and-leaf displays, scatter plots, and box-and-whisker plots. • 17.0 Students determine confidence intervals for a simple random sample from a normal distribution of data and determine the sample size required for a desired margin of error. • 18.0 Students determine the P-value for a statistic for a simple random sample from a normal distribution.
Hypothesis • We believe an average student eats 3 bags of Cheetos per week.
Data Collection • We collected data by using the stratified sampling method. We asked 10 students from grade level 9th-12th in total we surveyed 40 students.

Statistics • From our survey, students sample commute mean to bags of Cheetos is 4.1 with sample standard deviation 2.6 per students.
Confidence Interval • 95% Confidence Interval • Z-Interval • (3.2693, 4.8807) • We are 95% confident mean bags of Cheetos for all students is between 3.3 to 4.9 per week.
Hypothesis Testing • Test Hypothesis Claim: We believe students eat 3 bags of Cheetos per week. Test Statistics ( z test ) P-value: .0089 < At 5% level of significance, we reject the claim there is not enough evidence to support the claim.
Error Analysis • Our sample mean is 4.1bags of Cheetos, and the 95% confidence level for the population mean is between 3.26 to 4.88 bags of Cheetos. The marginal error is about .78 bags of Cheetos. • Our sample error is due to possible underrespresentation of the population. We might need to take more samples due to not survey more students.
Conclusion • We hypothesized that Century Students’ commute amount of Cheetos per week was 3 bags, we find the sample mean of bags of Cheetos was 4.1 with a standard deviation of 2.6 bags of Cheetos. We conclude that the population mean for all students is between 3.3 to 4.9 bags of Cheetos with 95% confidence. We tested our initial hypothesis with 5% level of significance, and confirm our hypothesis is incorrect.
