SB 1309-Legislation Intent • Providing addition resources to community colleges to reduce attrition • Creating a statewide health care workforce database to monitor pipeline supply and demand data for the health care workforce.

SB 1309-Legislation Intent • Establish a California Community College Nursing Enrollment Growth and Retention Program • Grants to address enrollment growth and attrition • 12% attrition or agree to implement comprehensive retention program • Community colleges identify diagnostic instrument to predict nursing success and adopt it statewide with a statewide standard for nursing program success • Strengthen pre-nursing coursework • Report outcomes to Chancellor’s office
SB 1309-Legislation Intent • Establish Five Regional Nursing resource Centers that develop appropriate stakeholder partnerships and • Develop online Clinical placement systems • Develop online Faculty Registry systems • Provide training and technical assistance to users
SB 1309-Legislation Intent • Expand baccalaureate Nursing programs by 340 slots • Charge the office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) with gathering and compiling pipeline statistics on nursing and reporting annually to legislature • California Community Colleges to develop a computerized, online clinical placement and clinical faculty registry
