  4. Data Sources • Cfo.dc.gov publishes properties subject to tax sale each year in pdf format • Internet Archive (www.archive.org) sometimes saves a copy even when DC does not • Files are in a slightly different format each year

  5. Raw data • What is published is the tax owed on each property (square, suffix, lot), and owner of record • Not all lots can be mapped to the (completely wonderful!) GIS layers made available by dcgis.dc.gov • Summarized the tax obligation to the tax square

  6. Web-based? • How best to present data to, say, the average resident of DC? • Constraints: • Attention span • Variable technology • Accessibility • Visual Presentation
