  2. Background • New initiatives often involve broader subjects than any one Engineering Committee can address • A process for transition from an “emerging” technology to a “technology” is warranted

  3. Background • A process for managing subjects that reach beyond any one Engineering Committee is warranted • Ensure and track progress • Serve as primary point of contact for publicizing efforts • Ensure each EC is aware of projects in other ECs

  4. Model • The Cloud Computing Task Group model may be a good start • Identified affected ECs • Identified opportunities, expertise and needs for each EC to address • Effectively a checklist of items for further study for each EC • What next?
