The Modernising Scottish Higher National Provision project, supported by the European Social Fund, aims to modernize and innovate assessment and learning tools for HN awards in Scotland. It complements the Higher National modernization program, with a total project value of £2,834,201. The project duration is from August 2004 to September 2006. Expected outputs include assessment exemplars, learning packs, online assessments, mapped websites, and learner guides. The goal is to increase recognition of HNC/Ds, improve e-learning experiences, enhance employability skills, and support lifelong learning strategies. Project Outputs MSHNP comprises two major strands of activity Strand 1 • Assessment exemplars for a range of modernised HN awards >80% of Units • Learning & teaching resources for a selection of curriculum areas >30 HNs

The Project • Scottish Online Assessment Resources • Develop and deliver significant numbers of online summative assessments across curricular areas incl. • Computing, Care, Engineering, Admin & IT, Languages • Provide opportunities for CPD and further development • Develop materials to support participants in the project
The Project • Online system for authoring, peer review and moderation • Assessments delivered and marked live over the web – no college installs required • Objective-type questions • MCQ, MRQ, Numerical, gapfill, re-ordering, matching • Outcome, Unit and final exam assessments • Pre-moderated and guaranteed for delivery
Key Outputs • Summative e-assessments for Units in HNC/Ds • Staff trained in authoring and delivering e-assessments • Contribute to the development of a sustainable model for the production of e-assessments
