  2. Sufficient information • 2 types of information • 3D CAD model • 2D orthographic drawing

  3. 3D CAD Model • All features should be fully dimensioned. • Why? • To ensure that all elements of the model are the correct size • All features should be fully constrained • Why? • To ensure that no element of the model is moved by mistake, that edges are fixed at the correct angle, etc.

  4. 2D Orthographic Drawing • The 2D orthographic drawings should be correctly laid out and contain sufficient information to allow the machinist to make and check that the part conforms to the specification required. • Eg. All features are dimensioned and tolerances are in place.
