  2. John Muir “Preservationist” • Born in Scotland 1838 • Came to WI as boy • Loved being outside in nature • Very creative, many inventions

  3. John on His Own • He attended Univ. of Wisconsin • Got a job helping run a small factory • Mechanically minded - factory machines & Inventions

  4. Wisconsin to California • Injured when file pierced his eye • Swore he’d give life to God’s Creation (Nature) if sight returned • Spent 6 years reading,writing & studying in Yosemite
