Oil Drop Experiment • Tiny oil drops were shot into an enclosed space • One charged drop was suspended between two charged plates • The weight of the oil drop was offset by the applied electrical force • By setting the electrical force equal to the known weight of the oil drop, the charge on the drop was found.
