  3. What Does Jesus Require of You? • Luke 24:46,47 • To Repent • Proclaimed by Jesus – • Matthew 4:17 • Luke 13:3,5 • Preached by Apostles- • Acts 3:19; 17:30,31 • Jesus Requires Repentance

  4. What Does it Mean to Repent? • Repent – “to change one’s mind” “The emphasis seems to be the total change, in thought & behavior, respecting how one should think & act.” • 2 Corinthians 7:9,10,11 • Have you expressed godly sorrow for your sin, with a fervent desire to change?

  5. What Does Jesus Require of You? • Mark 16:15,16 • Believe & Be Baptized • John 3:16 • John 8:24 • John 20:30,31 • Acts 2:38; 10:48; 22:16 • Jesus clearly requires people to believe & Be baptized!

  6. What Does It Mean To Believe & Be Baptized? • Place faith in Jesus, that He died for your sins – John 1:29 • Place faith in God, that He will raise you together with Christ- Colossians 2:11-13 • Romans 6:3-7 • Ethiopian eunuch – Acts 8:35-38 • Have YOU done this?

  7. What Does Jesus Require of You? • Matthew 28:18-20 • Become His Disciple • Invitation – Matthew 11:28-30 • Begins with act of Baptism – Matthew 28:19 • Jesus Clearly Requires people to become His Disciples

  8. What Does it Mean to Be His Disciple? • Disciple – one who engages in learning through instruction from another…” (Arndt/Gingrich) “an adherent, spoken of as imitators of their teacher.” (W.E. Vine) • Luke 6:40 • John 8:31; 13:35; 15:8 • Luke 14:26,33 • Have You made the commitment?

  9. What Does Jesus Require of You? • Revelation 2:10 • Be Faithful Unto Death • Knew Some Would Fall Away- Luke 8:13,14 • Can Develop Heart of Unbelief- Hebrews 3:12-14 • Jesus clearly requires people to remain Faithful as His Disciples

  10. What Does It Mean to Remain Faithful? • Retain “first love” – Revelation 2:4 • Reject All false Doctrine – Revelation 2:14,15 • Maintain our Zeal for the Lord- Revelation 3:15,16 • Have YOU maintained that initial Love and Zeal you had when you became a Christian?

  11. What Does Jesus Require of You? • To Repent if Necessary • Repeated by Jesus – Revelation 2:5 • Revelation 2:16; 3:3,19 • Expressed by Paul- 2 Corinthians 12:20,21 • Jesus Clearly Requires His disciples to repent whenever it is necessary!

  12. What Does it Mean to Repent? • For the Christian, includes Prayer & Confessing Sin to God – Acts 8:22 NKJV "Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.” • IF your faith has ever wavered, have you repented with fervent Zeal?

  13. Jesus wants Every Lost Soul to Repent & Obey the Gospel in Faith & Baptism Jesus wants Every Wayward Disciple to Repent & Be Zealous in their Service to Him

  14. Have You Done What Jesus Requires of You? • IF you need to repent & obey the Gospel, let us assist You. • IF you need to repent & return to the Lord, let us pray with you and for you. • The Salvation of Your Soul & Committed Discipleship is What Jesus Requires of You Today!
