What do you think of when you hear the word “attitude?” Brainstorm with a partner: What is attitude? What kind of attitude do you have about school?
What is the link between attitude and communication? • Verbal communication is the use of sounds and words to express yourself • Nonverbal Communication is communication without words. It includes apparent behaviors such as facial expressions, eyes, touching, and tone of voice.
How do you want to communicate while you are at work? Verbal communication is extremely important to your relationship with your supervisor. You are in the office once a week and they need to know where you are on on-going projects! Non-verbal communication is just as important! Make sure you are communicating the right message with your facial expressions and body language! Tone- the general character or attitude of a place, piece of writing, situation, etc.
Office Setting vs. Social Setting-Think Tone Directions: In your notes, sketch an example of what an office setting looks like. Then sketch what a social setting looks like. Write down at least three differences between the two. (5 minutes)
What are ethics? Who do you know in your life that you believe is ethical? What does ethics have to do with business?
Business Ethics Definition: the study and examination of moral and social responsibility in relation to business practices and decision-making in business
Harassment : Unwanted conduct related to a relevant protected characteristic, which has the purpose or effect of violating an individual's dignity or creating an intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive environment for that individual.
Discrimination: is treating, or proposing to treat, someone unfavorably because of a personal characteristic protected by law. This can include (but not limited to) a person’s gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, and other factors.

What were some instances of discrimination in the workplace? Of harassment? Important note: If you ever feel as though you are the victim of workplace harassment or discrimination, report the instance to it to the Corporate Work Study Program IMMEDIATELY!
Social Media? As your closure for the day, write down a sentence explaining what social media could have to do with business ethics. Is it ok to friend a boss?
