  4. Act. 59: Ice-Melting Contest • Date: 4/30/12 • Challenge Question: • Getting Started: Describe a contest you have participated in before.

  7. Conduction • This occurs when two objects touch each other and energy transfers from the hotter one to the colder one. • The conduction ability depends on the molecule structure of the material.

  8. Conductors • Think about what we just discussed about conduction. • What would be a conductor? • An example Copper and Aluminum

  9. Ice Melting Contest Rules • Keep the ice cube in the plastic bag until the end of the contest • You may not put the ice or the bag in your mouth. • Handle your bags carefully. A broken bag will disqualify you. • Keep all water in the plastic bag. The water that leaks or spills will not be measured. • Watch for my start and stop signals. • When time is up, remove the ice from the bag and place it in the cup given to you.
