Rationale Why teach PDHPE in primary schools? • PDHPE is one of the most important factors in our children’s lives. • It is so important for us to teach our next generation a happy, healthy, productive and responsible way of life within society. • To teach them the importance and need of skills and values. • Encourage them to value themselves, their loved ones and others within the wider community. • Teach the importance of adequate physical activity.
Rationale cont. • Help children develop the abilities of informed decision making within the public and private spheres of life. • Teach children the importance of having friends and close relationships. • The importance of eating a balanced and healthy diet.
Advocating for PDHPE • Teaching PDHPE in primary schools is a MUST! • There are numerous factors that each child should be taught, such as; 1- Health 2- Physical Education 3- Personal Development 4- Relationships 5- Physical Activities 6- Knowledge 7- Confidence 8- Awareness 9- Safety
Advocating for PDHPE cont. • Each individual factor increases each child’s knowledge, skills and values. • PDHPE provides them with a greater understanding of how to lead an active and fulfilling lifestyle. • It teaches them the importance of adopting a strong responsible and productive role within society and the wider community. • And most of all, PDHPE IS FUN!
