Tonight’s Goals • Build relationships between parents/teacher. • Overview of what your child will be learning in 1st grade. • Gain an understanding of classroom/school expectations, practices and schedule. • How to help support and encourage your children at home.
Truths (Beliefs) • Every child has the capacity to learn. • Students will gain the greatest benefit in an environment in which they feel safe and accepted. • Making choices (and mistakes) is an integral part of learning.

Homework • Homework Folders • Star Reader Booklet-10 minutes each night (Due Friday or last day of the week) • Nightly homework will vary (10 minutes) • Weekend Workout-optional • Weekend Writing
Grading • Assessments will have a percentage • Homework • Starred work and no star (correct and return) • Weekend Workout – smiley face for completion
