German Reflection Alexia Ramos Gonsen A10421750
I chose the German language because I already had a little knowledge on this subject, also because I took previous French classes and didn't relay like the language, and I think Chinese would have been rather difficult. • This made the course a bit easier for me (at least at the beginning). Butt I must say I have learned a lot since the year started and I feel a lot more confident in the speaking part. • I think that my learning would be more effective if I practiced more at home and put more attention in class, instead of getting distracted with my classmates. • A specific piece of work from the German class that I feel proud of would be my final presentation from last semester, in which I talked abouth the country of France, it's food coulture, traditions, flora, fauna etc...For this presentation I translated a text wich was originally written in English to German and then memorized it. I plan to do something similar for my final presentation this semester.
My weakest area in the subject in general are declinations, I get rather confused and don't remember the rules very well. • I am a visual type of learner it helps me to see pictures images or videos of the things I am learning to understand them better I also like to draw a lot and I think that may have something to do with it. • My learning plan is to practice a little bit of the work we do in class at home looking at the book and doing exercises from it and also going on the Internet and searching for the things I have doubts with. • This process has helped me before for example when I have to study for exams and do this I feel a lot more comfortable than just going through my notes. • In the intellectual area German has helped me because each time you learn a language you expand your knowledge, and activate your brain. In the personal area it has helped me because now it gives me the opportunity to communicate with German-speaking people. And in the ethical area it has helped me because learning the language also has made me understand about their culture and be more tolerant towards it.
I have made quite a good progress in listening and comprehension and also a little bit in vocabulary but the area I still need to work a lot on is grammar. • During my German curse I also learned a lot about Germany's modern and older and culture , for example songs and movies. And also about the couture of other countries like France. • After writing this reflection I realized that I haven't made a lot of effort in the German class sometimes I do try to do all the exercises and put a lot of attention and some days I mentioned but generally I get distracted with my other classmates and from now on I'm going to try to change that so my learning can be more productive. • I think that what I have learned in the car so far could help me communicate at least on a very basic basis with another German-speaking person it also has helped me understand a lot more about the written part into use the grammar conjugations more correctly. • I feel pretty satisfied about the piece of work that I selected to upload it isn't perfect but I think that's route the cars I can correct my mistakes and gain enough experience to do a little bit of the better work.
