first two rules of rounding numbers RULES OF ROUNDING NUMBERS • To round a number to the nearest, we round it to the multiple of ten nearest to it • A number which is midway is always rounded up. Examples:26 is rounded to 30;132 is to 130 ; 825 is rounded 830
Second two rules of rounding numbers • To round a number to the nearest hundred, we round it to the multiple of hundred nearest to it. • A number which is midway is always round up. Examples:826 is rounded to 800;1259 is round to 1300 850 is rounded to 830.
Third two rules of rounding numbers • To round a number to the nearest thousand, we round it to the multiple of thousand nearest to it. • A number which is midway is always rounded up.Examples:426 is rounded to 500;1259 is rounded to 10002500 is rounded to 3000.
Rounding large numbers. • We can now extend the rule of rounding off, to the nearest ten thousand, lakh,ten lakh and so on.
Rounding to nearest ten thousands • If digit in the thousands place is 8 since 8 > 5, the number 38249 is closer to 40000.
Rounding to nearest lakh • If the digit in ten thousands place is 4;<5 so we will not round it up. 2,56,293 Digit in the ten thousands place is 5; 5>= 5 So change 2 to 3 Number is rounded to 3,00,000.
