Types of star fish • There are many kinds of sea stars. Some can be poisonous like the chocolate chip sea star. So don’t get too close to them. Also there are five colors of sea stars: yellow, red, orange, purple, and brown. They can be called brittle stars if they are small, skinny, and spiky. Also they can be shaped like a pentagon.
Babies • The mother star fish lays eggs like most sea creatures, but from 100, to 1,000,000,000 at a time. So it’s likely to have lots of it’s babies survive.
Prey and Predator • They are predators to shell fish, and crab. Also crabs eats star fish. They are meat eaters.
Interesting Facts • If they loose an arm or leg it will grow back. Also it does not swim, it crawls. They are only found in oceans that contain 6,000 species.
Life cycle • They are born in eggs. Then they turn into plankton, then sea stars.
What it looks like • It has eye pots on their body instead of eyes. It also is very spiky and colorful.
How they act • They are harmless to people. They move by the waves of the ocean.
Landforms • Star fish live anywhere that has salt water if they are wet but mostly on seaweed or in tide pools.
