The Announcement (Effective July 1st 2010) Windows® VECD and Windows VECD for Software Assurance (SA) will no longer appear on the price list. Virtual desktop access (VDA) rights will become a Windows Client Software Assurance benefit. PCs covered under SA will be able to access their VDI desktops at no additional charge. Thin clients that do not qualify for Windows Client SA need to license those devices with a new license called Windows Virtual Desktop Access (Windows VDA) to be able to access a Windows VDI desktop. Windows VDA is also applicable to third party devices, such as contractor. The primary user of a Windows VDA device has extended roaming rights, which means that he/she can access their VDI desktop from any device outside of the corporate environment, such as a home PC or an internet kiosk. VDA Suggested price is $100/Year/Device and is only available as a subscription.
